This is the official page for all things Silent Book Club Newport. Here’s our helpful FAQ for you: 

When’s the next meetup?
We’ll be at Stoneacre Garden on Thursday, May 8th from 6-8PM.

Does everyone read the same book?
The beauty of this meetup is that what you read is up to you! This isn’t your typical book club, so there’s nothing to prepare and you won’t be quizzed at the end.

Is there an opportunity to talk? Or what if I want to do my own thing?
At Silent Book Club Newport, there is room for everyone to feel fulfilled. While meetings often have designated reading time, we won’t get in the way of anyone who wants to chat books or catch up with friends. We are also a new group, so we are trying to find a way to accommodate a variety of needs/desires.

Do I have to RSVP?
While RSVPs are not required, they are HIGHLY encouraged. They can be made by emailing emily@littlelioncommunications.com or through a direct message.

How much does it cost to attend?
Meetups don’t have an attendance fee, though we do strongly suggest supporting the local businesses that host us, because they mean so much to our community. This can be through a simple seltzer or an appetizer, or ordering the entire left side of the menu. Your choice!

Do I have to bring a physical book?
Not at all! Feel free to bring your e-reader or audio book (so long as you’re wearing headphones).

What if I have to come late or leave early?
We will be happy to see you no matter what time you arrive or leave. This is a no-pressure group.

I still don’t get it. What’s the point?
First and foremost, these meetups are intended to bring people together. They are in line with the well-documented concepts of parallel play and group activities, which have countless proven benefits. That said, we only want people to attend who want to be there. Good vibes only please!
